SEA SPRAY

We thought we’d seen the ultimate beach house…
and then we saw Sea Spray!

2000 sq. ft. | 4 Bedroom | 2 Bath | Sleeps 7

IMG_5559 copy

With only powdery sand dunes between you and the ocean, you’ll start relaxing the moment you step into this luxurious 2,000+ sq. ft. beachfront Mediterranean. The sounds of the surf will dissolve your cares by day and lull you to sleep at night…and wait till you see the views: on a clear day you can see the entire curve of Monterey Bay, from Moss Landing to Santa Cruz.

From the arched entry to the alabaster scones, no detail has been overlooked. The living room has a bar and comfortable seating around a gas fireplace with 55″ Smart TV above (not shown). Radiant heated, sand-colored stone floors are warm underfoot, the Mission-style furniture includes a hammered copper table that seats 8, and the custom inlaid mural in the kitchen depicting early Monterey is a spectacular piece of “art history.”

The kitchen has everything a gourmet could ask for, from a professional mixer to a coffee frother for your morning latte: granite countertops with a cream-colored travertine backsplash, burled walnut cabinetry, Viking appliances (including a four-burner gas range)—there’s even a wine cooler in the adjoining garage and whole-house water filtration.

Wall-to-wall glass (with motorized blinds) frames the ever-changing sea views in the master suite (with a King bed and a wall-mounted TV). The en suite bath features an oval Jacuzzi tub, a walk-in steam shower, two vanities topped with black glass, subway-tiled walls inlaid with iridescent stone, a separate toilet compartment, and a large closet. Three guest rooms—two with Queens and one with a twin daybed—share a second bath with a pedestal sink and a shower lined in lustrous marble.

From the sunny protected patio to the fire pit for relaxing under the stars, the living is definitely easy in this brand new beach house. Pick up fresh seafood to barbecue at Fisherman’s Wharf—or just pick up the binoculars and check out the sea life from your living room. Until it’s time for another spectacular sunset, that is.

Ocean Spray

Here’s a recipe for vacation perfection: panoramic ocean views, luxurious finishes and furnishings…
and nothing but sand dunes between you and the beach.

2400 sq. ft. | 4 Bedroom | 2 Bath | Sleeps 8

IMG_5157_25

From the moment you open the door, this is a home that elicits oohs and aahs. Inside the light-filled great room, walls of glass frame ever-changing sea views, while high ceilings and cream-colored stone floors create a feeling of spaciousness and warmth. In the kitchen, lustrous granite countertops in silver, copper and jade accent the cherry cabinetry and stainless GE Monogram appliances (built-in convection oven, microwave and warming drawer, side-by-side refrigerator, and a six-burner professional gas cooktop with griddle).

The dining room seats 8, the living room has an instant gas fireplace, a large flat screen TV, and sliding doors that lead to front and side decks (barbecue, bistro table for four, two additional seating areas, and a stand heater for chilly nights).

There are four bedrooms upstairs (twin trundle, two Queens, one King). The master suite has views of the ocean and a private bath with a jetted tub and walk-in shower. Three other bedrooms share a hall bath with a shower lined in travertine, and there’s a laundry area with a front loading washer and dryer.

A central staircase leads to the double garage and a playroom stocked with toys, a TV, a dollhouse, and a trundle bed for extra sleeping. Other features include crown molding, honeycomb Duet shades, eight televisions, a double garage, and a home security system.

Let the sounds of the surf lull you to sleep at night… and wait till you see the views: on a clear day you can see the entire curve of Monterey Bay, all the way to Santa Cruz.

Pacific Grove Vacation Rental – “Oh, June, I’m home!”

http://www.montereyrentals.com/VacationRentalsDetail.php?1127R-220If June Cleaver and Nate Berkus had a baby…. well, that’s not going to happen. But if you’re looking for the family home of the future—we’ve got it.

With an advanced sound system that plays tunes from CDs, an iPod (or old-fashioned radio) throughout the house, everyone can listen to their favorite genre at the same time. (And you’ll still be able to hear Ward call, “Oh, June, I’m home!” after golfing.)

In fact, June would feel totally comfortable in this quiet “PG” neighborhood. From the Butterfly Parade to the apple trees around Caledonia Park, there are plenty of reasons Pacific Grove is called America’s “last hometown.”

Two free Aquarium passes are included, and there are four bikes in the garage, so the whole family can ride to the beach. Later, while Ward grills burgers, and June swoons in the gourmet kitchen, preparing an ambrosia salad—or anything with marshmallows—the kids can frolic in the large fenced backyard. And when the sun goes down, the family can gather round the firepit under the stars.

Oh, Baby! Free Passes to See Baby Great White Shark at Monterey Aquarium

The words “cute” and “Great White Shark” are not usually found in the same sentence.

Try telling that to the visitors who are currently oohing and cooing at the newborn baby great white shark at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The “little guy”—a 43 pound “bundle of sharp teeth and predatory instincts”—was collected off Malibu in mid-August.

There’s no way to determine his exact age, but his size suggests he’s about two months old, and he is the smallest great white the Aquarium has ever exhibited.

Currently the Aquarium’s newest addition is chowing down on mackerel and salmon while on display in the one million gallon Open Sea exhibit. Like all six of the Aquarium’s previous great whites, this shark will eventually be released into the wild when his size—or behavior—warrants it.

Monterey Bay Property Management is offering two free Aquarium passes at any of these fin, er, fine ocean view vacation rentals within walking distance of Cannery Row.

831F: Bright, open one bedroom/1.5 bath sanctuary with gorgeous art plus ocean and city light views.

193B: This oceanfront one bedroom/one bath duplex has spectacular views of Monterey Bay – just hop on the seaside recreational trail and head to the Aquarium.

215A: Spacious two bedroom/two bath vacation condo just three blocks from the water—and ocean views from every room.

901BH: For twosomes, a one bedroom/two bath with a peak of ocean, a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub.

Get Your Motor Running!

motogp2010_11-1-2And head out on the highway – the Monterey/Salinas Highway, that is – for the 2011 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix July 22-24 at Laguna Seca.

The highlight: the MotoGP, the world’s premier motorcycling championship – combining the world’s top motorcycle manufacturers – like Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Ducati and Kawasaki – with an elite list of riders from every corner of the globe.

And no other U.S. road course challenges these world champion riders with such a heart pounding combination: 11 turns, dramatic elevation changes of up to 300 feet, and the plunging blind Corkscrew turn that drops an equivalent of 5-1/2 stories.

There’s non-stop action all weekend for the whole family, both on and off the track: stunt riding exhibitions, rider talks, “learn to ride” programs, and a children’s play area.  Saturday night features a live performance by The Dirty Heads, named one of 2010’s Top Bands by Rolling Stone.
