As Hollywood celebrates the 86th Academy Awards Presentation on March 2, partiers will join in as well in #Monterey at the Monterey County Film Commission’s annual fundraiser, “Hollywood’s Big Night” at the Cannery Row Brewing Company, 95 Prescott Ave. The local event begins at 3:45 p.m. and the Oscars presentations begin on the live telecast at 5:30 p.m.
The Carmel Valley Chamber of Commerce and AT &T will hold the Night with the Stars event on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at The Peninsula Ballroom at Quail Lodge & Golf Club. Bringing Hollywood to Carmel Valley with a Red Carpet Reception beginning at 4:00 pm followed by the presentations of the Business Star Awards at 4:45 pm and a three-course dinner and live cast of the ACADEMY AWARDS® at 5:30 pm. This glamorous event will include raffle opportunities for staycations, private vineyard tour, SF Giants tickets and SCRAMP – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca season pass.

75th Annual Pacific Grove Butterfly Parade and Bazaar is a free event.
The parade begins at 10:30am in front of Robert H. Down Elementary School on Pine Avenue in Pacific Grove. The parade will head down Fountain Avenue to Lighthouse Avenue, up 17th Street and conclude on Pine Avenue at Robert Down School.
Immediately following the parade is the Butterfly Bazaar behind Robert Down School. The Bazaar boasts free admission, 11am-2pm. There will be a raffle drawing, carnival games & prizes, food, and bake sale. >>>More Info
VIP tickets includes access into the Beer Garden & Tent, preferred seating a Souvenir Beer Stein and one Spaten Beer, live music from the opening band The Flying Dutchman and “The Internationals,” dancing and beverage service from the St. Pauli Girls.
At 10 a.m., on July 4th a U.S. Navy Seal jump team will parachute onto Alvarado Street to kick off an Independence Day parade. This year’s parade will have more participants than last year’s parade, watch out for the giant balloons and a birthday cake float.
The “Big Little Backyard BBQ and Entertainment Extravaganza” from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. will happen on the lawn at Colton Hall. The barbecue on the lawn at Colton Hall will feature live music on two separate stages. Bands include the Monterey Community Band, Pop Fiction, The Money band and The Fundamentals. There will also be carnival booths, jump houses, face painting and more.
Ending the evening is the concert at 7 p.m. at Jacks Park. Live music will be performed by Monterey County Pops! with more than 40 musicians. The concert will also feature soloists Erasmo Aiello and Deputy District Attorney Stephanie Hulsey.
There will be no fireworks display and fireworks are strictly banned.
