Dance Kids of Monterey County’s twenty-second annual holiday ballet has a fresh look with all new choreography and costumes! Award winning choreographer Andrea Paris-Gutierrez, Los Angeles Ballet Academy, directs the Peninsula’s pre professional company in the timeless story of Clara and her beloved Nutcracker. Two performances of the Cavalier and his Sugar Plum Fairy this year will feature guest artists Dylan Gutierrez and Jeraldine Mendoza, appearing courtesy of the The Joffrey Ballet.
With over 100 Peninsula dancers and gymnasts in the all new production, we continue to honor tradition and introduce brand new scenes to delight our devoted patrons as well as first time Nutcracker audience members.
Dance Kids Nutcracker has it all, sword fights, humor, beauty, grace and enough youngsters on stage to assure our audiences walk out of the theatre with a smile!

From classical to cool, Smuin offers two acts filled with a stunning and original array of ballet, tap and jazz. When it comes to vocal talent, Africa, and more particularly South Africa, has spawned the most evocative sounds on earth and still produces the very best that the world has to offer. Soweto Gospel Choir is that very best. Since its formation in 2002, Soweto Gospel Choir has brought joy into the lives of audiences all over the world. They have collaborated with artists including U2, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Robert Plant, Celine Dion, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Peter Gabriel, and Josh Groban. Returning to Sunset Center for the first time in five years, the Choir will perform both traditional and contemporary songs full of earthy rhythms and rich harmonies, adding its own unique feel and interpretation to both.

Experience an incredible evening of live 1940s music! Battle of the Big Bands features two Big Bands with 30 musicians. Musical Director, Richard Nelson Hall, presents a musical tribute to the 1940s Big Bands – Glen Miller vs. Tommy Dorsey.
The Master of Ceremonies, Bobby Vickers, will host this energetic show along with Shelly Mackay, female vocalist.

This family-friendly, alcohol-free New Year’s celebration takes place at over 25 performance sites downtown (most venues are indoors).
This year’s theme is “SEACHANGES” and Alvarado Street will be illuminated in colorful lights as more than 200 artists join to “dance, act, play, perform, create, and sing our way into 2014!”
THE FIRST ACT for the Young & Young-at-Heart!
After the opening ceremony at on Colton Lawn and Pacific Street at 3 pm, Kids Night Out! Kicks off with music, songs, drumming, dance, ballet, folk dancing in traditional costumes, face art, balloon magic, art creating, hat making and more!
At 5:30 pm, all are welcome to join the Twilight Procession down Alvarado Street from Portola Plaza to Pearl Street with stilt walkers, dancers, marchers, giant puppets, and parade floats. Sign-up your group!
THE SECOND ACT: THE MAIN EVENT!
Blues to Rock to Country, Hip-Hop to Folk! FNM 2014 will have a complete line-up, delighting the entire family.
World dance in the street! International costumed dancers, including Chinese Lion dancers will be on the streets. Dancing to the sounds of oldies, rock-n-roll, the tropical beats and West African sounds.
Monterey Center for Spiritual Living: This beautiful Sanctuary resounds with mellow sounds, beautiful voices and great arrangements; choral, classical and cool jazz throughout the night!
Monterey Conference Center: Three floors of music, art and community! Learn to dance, dance to the sounds of live bands, rap, make a rhythmic beat from reclaimed items at the Junk Jam. Celtic, Folk, Flamenco, Dance, Marimba are just a few of the sounds heard.
Golden State Theatre: Savor the sounds more live entertainment, from Folk to Blues, all the way to the New Year! 2014 performing artists.

The Grand Finale! Our 2014 headliners are two renowned local bands that will bring us into the New Year; Mike Beck and the Bohemian Saints with their Americana/Country music style, and Chris Cain with his original sound of jazz-inspired blues! Both events feature a countdown to the New Year!
